National Science Center

Nearby with Paddy Museum is National Science Centre Northern Region Branch. National Science Centre Branch of the Northern Territory (PSNCWU) is the first branch of the National Science Centre. Located in Mount Keriang address, Alor Setar, PSNCWU responsible to meet and include the states in the Northern Territory of Kedah, Perlis, Perak and Penang.










Its location on Gunung Keriang about 8 km from the town of Alor Setar and adjacent to Rice Museum. Science center's exhibits to the public concerning the science, technology and innovations.

Activities that we can do here :

Science Show
It is a fun and fascinating science activity. The demonstrator will demonstrate science phenomena that the audience can relate to everyday life. Each science show session is around 15-30 minutes
Time: 10.00 am | 12.00 pm | 3.00 pm
Location: Science Show Stage, Level 1

Let’s Xperiment
t is an activity corner provided with equipment and activity material. The visitor will carry out activities while supervised by PSN facilitators. Visitors and facilitators will interact to understand the science phenomena. Each session is around 10-20 minutes
Time: 9.00 am- 1.00 pm | 2.00 pm -5.00 pm
Location: Pathway to Science Gallery, Level 1


Visitors can also be exposed to Science Trail Programme that provide a variety of activities that can be followed by visitors.

Kedah Paddy Museum

Next, we move on to Kedah Paddy Museum. It located at Gunung Keriang 8km from Alor Setar.


Was officially opened by DYMM Tuanku Sultan Haji Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, on October 12, 2004.
Kedah Paddy Museum backdrop of Gunung Keriang looks like to be in the middle of green carpet.The main purpose of the museum is built is to create a museum to exhibit superior materials in rice involving culture, research and development and technological progress of rice.Rice Museum's total area is 12,000 square meters and has three floors.

MASJID ZAHIR

Next,we travel to Masjid Zahir. Masjid Zahir is Kedah state mosque and it located in Alor Setar.






 

 Is one of the grandest and oldest mosques in Malaysia,this building are build in 1912.The design was inspired by the vision of the late Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zainal Abidin II.The state's Quran reading competition is held annually within the premises of the mosque. For your information, Masjid Zahir was voted as the top 10 most beautiful mosques in the world.





In front of Masjid Zahir is Balai Besar or Great Hall, is a heritage structure in Kedah. The original structure dates back to the founding of Alor Star in 1735, and was built by Alor Setar founder Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zainal Abidin (1710-1778), the 19th ruler of the Kedah Sultanate, as the Balai Rong Seri, or Audience Hall.



Beside Balai Besar is Kedah Royal Museum.


Built in 1736, it was also the mausoleum of Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zainal Abidin II. During the rulling period of Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Mukarram Shah, the palace was called the Pelamin Palace because it was the venue of several royal weddings. 




In 1983, the palace was converted to the Kedah Royal Museum. Its numerous galleries feature the Rumah Pelamin exhibit, the "Pameran Sultan Kita" exhibit which features Tuanku Sultan Haji Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, the present ruler and the Royal Collection of artifacts donated by members of the royal family. 










Rumah Kelahiran Mahathir Mohamad

Our first trip in Kedah Darul Aman is visiting our former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad place of birth in Alor Setar. We can walk from Pekan Rabu and it may took around 15 minutes.










Here we can get a lot of information about Tun before he active in politician.This home has been entrusted to the national archives by recommendations Museum State of Kedah on May 1993. On 29 June 1990 the Museum State of Kedah received a letter of authorization from Tun Dr Mahathir to preserve and promote this place to become one of  tourist attractions in kedah.
